About Flora Five

Flora Five is an independent Indian attar house.

We make alcohol-free, halal perfume oils: our own Flora Five Originals, and interpretations inspired by the world's most recognised fragrances, rebuilt for Indian weather, Indian skin, and Indian values. Alongside our attars we offer a separate range of ouds (agarwood oils).

Every inspired-by Flora Five fragrance is an independent composition. We borrow the silhouette, not the formula. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or licensed by any donor brand we reference. What we offer is a tribute — the scent direction of a globally admired perfume, reinterpreted as a concentrated roll-on oil that performs in heat and humidity.

Why attar, and why alcohol-free?

An attar is a concentrated perfume oil with a long tradition in India and the Arab world. It contains no ethanol. On skin, that means no sting on freshly-shaved jawlines, no evaporation in summer heat, and no stain on a crisp white shirt. An oil fragrance blooms slowly. It projects close. It is more intimate than a spray, and far more forgiving in Indian humidity.

For many of our customers, alcohol-free is not a preference — it is a requirement. Our range is halal, cruelty-free, and hand-blended in small batches.

Who makes Flora Five

Flora Five was founded in 2022 and is run by Armaan Singh from Sirhind, Punjab; our online store opened in 2024. The brand began with a straightforward frustration: the world's finest olfactory signatures were either unavailable, unaffordable, or incompatible with the way people in India actually live — shaving in hot water before a wedding, walking through humidity in July, observing religious practice that rules out ethanol perfumes. Flora Five is the answer.

Armaan Singh — founder, and the nose behind every blend. Armaan creates each Flora Five fragrance by nose, from his own olfactory experience rather than a formal perfumery course. He holds an Honours degree in Urdu, is currently studying law (LLB), and speaks English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Persian. A lifelong background in literature, poetry, music and art informs the character of each scent.

Rai Singh — MSc Chemistry, safety and blend proportions. Rai Singh holds a Master's degree in Chemistry. He sets the proportions of each blend and checks its safety before a batch is made.

Every batch is blended by hand, in small quantities, in our workshop at the back of the Flora Five store in Sirhind.

How we build a Flora Five attar

We start with the donor fragrance — the one our customer has described, or the one we have heard asked for a hundred times. We map the note pyramid: top, heart, base. We then compose an independent interpretation in oil form. We test it on skin, in humidity, at 11pm on a summer evening, until it opens right, settles right, and holds through the evening.
