Flora Five's Black Opium attar is an alcohol-free, oil-based interpretation of the adrenaline-shot glamour of Black Opium by Yves Saint Laurent. Juicy pear and pink pepper crackle over orange blossom, then the famous black coffee pours into a jasmine heart laced with bitter almond and liquorice, and vanilla, patchouli and cashmere wood carry the buzz for roughly 10–12 hours on skin.

How it compares. Our attar captures the recognisable Black Opium accord — that jolt of espresso against creamy vanilla and night-blooming jasmine. Because it's a concentrated oil with no alcohol, the opening is softer (no spray "blast"), it develops more slowly, sits closer to the skin, and lasts noticeably longer than an alcohol spray.
With no alcohol in the formula, this attar is halal and easy on skin that finds sprays harsh. Dab or roll onto warm pulse points — wrists, the hollow of the neck, behind the ears — and give body heat twenty minutes to wake the coffee. We suggest keeping it off white outfits; dark gourmand oils can shadow fabric.

Frequently asked questions
What does Black Opium smell like?
Coffee and vanilla in evening dress. A brief fruity-peppery sparkle leads into a heart where roasted coffee meets white jasmine, sweetened at the edges by almond and liquorice. The base is warm vanilla anchored with patchouli and soft woods — sweet, energetic and unmistakably a night scent for women.
How long does it last?
Around 10–12 hours on skin. The coffee-jasmine core projects moderately to strongly for the first 5–7 hours, then relaxes into a vanilla skin-scent that typically outlasts the party — and, on clothing, the week.
How is Flora Five's version different from the original Black Opium?
Format, mostly. The original is an alcohol spray with a big, immediate opening; ours is a concentrated oil that unfolds the same coffee-vanilla-jasmine accord gradually and holds it against the skin for longer. You also get to wear it in prayer-safe, halal form and at an accessible price.
Which size should I choose — 3, 6 or 12 ml?
Take the 3 ml if you're curious how the coffee note behaves on your skin. The 6 ml comfortably covers a season of evenings out. Devotees of the original usually go straight to the 12 ml — it is the best value per wear.
